Villa Mimosa was built in 1964 and designed by the well known Italian architect, Michele Valori. The home sits on the north side of the Monte Argentario, a large, rocky peninsula on the southern Tuscan coast. In recent years this area of Tuscany has made its mark as a fashionable holiday destination because of its unspoiled beaches and nature reserves.
Villa Mimosa lies just two miles from one of the two port towns on the peninsula, Porto Santo Stefano. Here you can find plenty of sea-side restaurants and shops, daily fish markets, ferries to the island of Elba and four distinct historic districts to explore.
Villa Mimosa is perfectly nestled among tall cypresses and old olive trees giving it a classic Italian charm. The owners take great care in their home and visit often, which is evident in its unique style and lived in atmosphere. The villa is constructed completely out of stone including stone walls that lead around the house and into the adjoining gardens.
Here the walls divide the garden into different sections, including colorful flower beds that sit against views of the Mediterranean sea and a pool area that is tucked into the sunniest corner. Mature rose bushes and almond trees among dappled sunlight delight the sense between visits to the beach.
Near the garden and entrance to the house there is an outdoor cooking area with a barbeque, wood oven, stone sink and massive wooden table big enough for 20. This is the ultimate place to linger over long lunches with friends and family.
Indoors the villa comprises of two levels. Downstairs large sliding glass doors open from the main living area to the outdoors. With exposed wood ceilings throughout the dining and living rooms flow effortlessly into one another.
A fireplace, artfully chosen furniture and artifacts from the owner's travels give the rooms a feeling of intimacy. Also on the first floor is one double bedroom with a bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and laundry room.
Upstairs there are two more bedrooms (one double and one triple) with bathrooms and views to the Mediterranean Sea. Ample parking, air conditioning, dishwasher and a satellite television.
