Situated just 14 kms to the south of Noto, the Oasi of Vendicari is an internationally recognized nature reserve, attracting hundreds of species of migratory birds every year. As well as seeing typical Mediterranean maquis here in all its splendour, you can also swim in crystal-clear waters, and walk for miles along beaches of fine white sand, including the Cala Mosca, arguably one of the most beautiful beaches in Sicily.

The Val of Noto was declared by UNESCO to be a World Heritage site, and its eight towns, unique examples of Sicilian Baroque town planning and architecture. In the surrounding area are the fascinating natural reserves of Fiume Irminio, Prainito, and Manghisi, the cave necropoli of Pantalica and Castelluccio, and small cultural towns such as Modica e Scicli which together with Noto offer a rich season of cultural events every summer. 

For those who love nature and peaceful surroundings, the Hibiscus reserve is a true paradise, and this charming villa blends in perfectly with the landscape and sense of history. It has been renovated from an ancient country house with much sensitivity and respect for its unique surroundings. Outside the house an ancient drinking trough has been transformed into a swimming pool (2m x 10m). The kitchen opens to a pergola shaded terrace with outdoor dining area. 

Inside the whitewashed walls and simple rustic furniture of distressed wood give the house a wonderful ambience of a Sicilian country house of many years ago. There are three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms on the main level and a fourth bedroom on the first floor, opening to a 60 Sq. m. terrace with views of the sea and the largest of Vendicari’s salt lakes. Amenities include central heating, ceiling fans and a safe. Another smaller property, Hibiscus Piccolo, featured separately and furnished in a similar style, is 2 km. away and also available to rent.
