Similar to the Amalfi Coast altough far less developed, Maratea is on the stretch of coast south of Campania and consist of a handful of hillside villages linked by roads that are never straight or level for long. the area is still unspoilt and extraordinarily beautiful. The area of Maratea has 2 sections: the port, 4,5 km and the "old town" at 6km, up on the hill side.
The views along the coast change frequently, in a constant procession of beaches, inlets, islets, rocks and grottoes, that have justly made this coastline famous for its beauty and for the crystal-clear water of the sea. Back at the seaside Castrocucco has one of the area's prettiest beaches with a ruined Norman castle and grottoes.
Maratea, blessed by nature, is a beautiful villages, perches high above the stunning coastline of the Bay of Policastro, surrounded by dramatic mountains and eleven tiny hamlets.
