Surface area: The total area of the villa , spread out over three levels connected with each other by external stone stairways , is 250 sqm indoor and 600 sqm meters of outdoor area consisting of terraces and gardens with wide panoramic views of Amalfi and the sea. Historical Outline: Villa Gaia is a typical Amalfitan house situated on the upper part of the Baglio Hill. The comfortable welcoming house, heated in all seasons by the warm Amalfitan sun, has storage areas and stables covered with barrel vaults and pointed vaults on the ground floor. These are medieval catodea, probably dating back to the 12th century. The original medieval part is raised on another two floors: on the first floor a room with lowered vaults is clearly visible, obviously built during the same period as the rooms below; on the second floor there is a cross vault made with crossing barrels. So this three-storey complex with these vaults is the oldest building, datable to the first part of the 12th century.
