One of our favourite pastimes in Tuscany is to visit the hilltop hamlets. Often they hide excellent restaurants with superb views from old stone terraces. Monte a Pescia is one such place and so is Massa e Cozzile. The hills in this area are steep with wooded slopes and have Palazzi and villas strewn on their sides like chocolate chips in the local Stracciatella ice cream.
Built in the simple local style, this welcoming villa with wooden shutters seems to have been designed with the view in mind. Look out over Montecatini Terme, the spa town below, an immaculately preserved Tuscan gem which at night sparkles like the clear skies above. Simply but comfortably furnished, the interior has been designed to blend perfectly with the old cotto floors, heavy beamed ceilings and the blank canvas of whitewashed walls. It is a pleasant home from home that over the past ten years has proven to be popular with repeat clients.
