This old Tuscan farmhouse built around the turn of the 12th century was restored last year retaining all the original old features. Characteristic fireplaces, chestnut beams and cotto floors have been all faithfully brought back to life. As was traditional for the larger farmhouses a small barn nearby was used to stable the cattle downstairs and store the grain upstairs. This barn, has been also fully restored. The property is about 9 km south west of the city of Lucca and is surrounded by beautiful rolling hills, olive groves, vineyards,hilltop villages with picturesque old churches.
The nearest villages are San Macario in Piano 4 km away where there is a small shop, bakery and butchers and Sant'Alessio is also 4 km on the way down to Lucca.
Larger farmhouse: About 350 sq with entrance hallway, kitchen / dining room, large sitting room, bathroom. Upstairs there are two twin bedrooms one with ensuite bathroom, two double bedrooms one with ensuite bathroom and aditional bathroom.
There is a another spacious sitting room with shuttered windows that overlook fields, vineyards and distant villages. The downstairs sitting room with magnificent old fireplace opens out onto a shaded terrace with dining table and chairs for up to 12 . There is an original working pizza oven.
