Predictably, Sir Richard Branson's private African suite is not your traditional Safari Villa. Built into a steep rock face that towers above a huge game-rich plain, Cliff Lodge has views that will take your breath away, but facilities that will make you feel right at home: from the maxi bar to the mini Aroma Boma spa, the outdoor BBQ to the flat-screen TVs and Nintendo Wii, this is really for those who want to experience the beauty of the bush without losing out on urban pleasures.
Accessed via a raised wooden walkway from nearby Rock Lodge, Cliff Lodge is private enough for special occasions although guests may choose at any time to join those at the main camp, where activities as diverse as helicopter flips and stargazing in the bush observatory are on offer, and the atmosphere is often as exuberant as the billionaire who built this lodge to celebrate his abiding love for the African bush.
The main lounge/dining areas offer panoramic views across the savannah plain below and leads onto an outdoor deck and dining area where up to 10 people can have dinner; should you tire of staring at the unfolding drama below there is a fireplace, flat-screen TV, DVD player and Nintendo Wii. The kitchen is separate to this area and accessed towards the back of the lounge through a door. The second lounge area (open plan to the second suite bedroom) also features a fireplace, flat-screen TV and DVD.
Cliff Villa features a dining deck with built-in BBQ that leads from the lounge and main bedroom. Below is another deck with gorgeous views, private swimming pool and direct access to a mini-gym and the mini 'Aroma Boma' spa. The second suite opens onto its own private viewing deck with Jacuzzi. Game drives; walking safaris; cultural, wildlife or scenic tours, including helicopter trips. Bush observatory. Tennis courts.
