During the XII century, on the border between the powerful Florence and the growing prosperity of Siena, San Sano was strategically situated. At the time Siena, under the “Governo dei Nove” (Governor of Nine) was growing rapidly under the urbanistic and artistic profile. The typical Siena gothic style and modern cultural expressions, placed the artists of Florence and Umbria in the shade. At San Sano, outpost of the SieneseRepublic, immersed in harmonious serenity with an enchanted landscape, one of the towers became residence of the Great Tuscan Dukes during 1800.
Cosimo I dei Medici, Violante de Baviera, Leopoldo di Toscana, whom have left a sign of their passing, giving names to the marvellous rooms which today accommodates whoever wants to dream, with eyes open, returning to the past.
