This luxury villa rental in South Africa is located in Kalk Bay, Cape Town. The Rafters was built by Sir Herbert Bakers business partner as his holiday home. During the 1920's, St James and Kalk Bay was more popular with its mountain vistas and warm Indian Ocean water than the French Rivera. While building mansions for the Rand lords, many of which loose sunlight in the early afternoon, he chose the finest spot for the Rafters, with the most sun and the least wind. Four years ago, award winning architect Pedro Roos opened up the interior successfully retaining the classic features such as the yellowwood beams while modernizing it. Well known artist Beezy Bailey currently uses the house as a family holiday home which is why it has a personal intimate atmosphere and has been decorated to a high standard including a beautiful art collection on its walls.
