The Garfagnana region, north of Lucca, has craggy peaks, deep valleys, forested hillsides and the richest diversity of flora and fauna in Tuscany. In springtime the meadows are a brilliant carpet of wild flowers and in autumn an abundance of fungi. The whole area is dotted with pretty villages, small estates, grand villas and Italianate gardens.
One such exclusive estate is the Tenuta di Colletto, dating back to the early 19th century and close to the beautiful medieval town of Coreglia Antelminelli, set on a hilltop with stunning views over dramatic countryside, mountains and hilltop villages resting in the lush wooded landscape. The property has an abundant four acres of private land within which one find an Italianate garden comprising many terraces, formal lawns, woodland walks and hidden bowers for secluded sunbathing, dining or romantic trysts. In summer the scent and colour of lavender, box, oleander, geraniums, rosemary, jasmine, roses and the aroma of wild herbs perfumes the air and creades a heady mix that is uniquely Tuscan.
