Recently renovated, this Galle fort Family villa is a fine example of 18th century design that provides the ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of 21st century living.
All white, including the floors - a barefoot palace - with tall ceilings, a huge living room, study, laundry room, and quarters for the 5 staff.
The tastefully furnished living and dining areas open out to the back gardens. There is also a library-cum-study; den with comfortable lounging furniture, TV, music system; and a well equipped kitchen. There is also a telephone and wifi facility. Both Western dishes and Sri Lankan rice and curry are served here.
The House has an English-speaking manager, housekeeper, cook and gardener – all of whom are obliging and helpful. Any specific requirements can be discussed with the manager who also has a tuk-tuk (trishaw) to take you to the shops and other places of interest.
Discuss your menus with the cook and he will ensure that delicious meals are prepared with vegetables and fresh seafood available locally. Accompany him if you wish to the local market to select your own ingredients.
