Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos is among the northern Caribbean's pre-eminent private islands. It is wrapped in sweeps of sand and peaceful seas featuring an award-winning spa and exceptional cuisine.
There are over 1000 unspoilt acres, wetlands and a mile-long powdered beach.
Accommodation in whitewash with chic teak finishing includes beachside villas, some with private pools. The aesthetic is pared down and sleek four-posters wrapped in soft cottons that billow with the breeze. On virgin hinterland beyond Rocky Point, find larger houses with even bigger cobalt pools.

COMO Shambhala Retreat at Parrot Cay was the first COMO Shambhala Retreat to open in 1998.
Located in the quiet northern Caribbean on a private 1000 acre island, it is a place to rediscover wellness. State-of-the-art facilities are built overlooking unspoilt wetlands in thatched alang-alang, stone and sun-bleached wood. They include a 540sq ft infinity-edge pool that overlooks the leeward side, a 920sq ft yoga room aired by natural breezes, and three treatment rooms.
In 2000, a further 6,600 sq ft extension was added. This included an outdoor Jacuzzi garden for women only, two new yoga and Pilates studios that guests can take over for one-on-one tuition (specialist equipment includes a rope wall, yoga props, the ‘Reformer’ and ‘Wunda Chair’), four single massage rooms and two double massage rooms with Japanese baths.
Ayurveda is a significant feature, and guests can couple wellness packages with detoxifying diets (Parrot Cay is where COMO Shambhala cuisine was pioneered). Other forms of massage, body treatments and wraps are based on traditional therapies from Japan, Bali, Thailand and China, in addition to Swedish massage, reflexology and aromatherapy techniques. Reiki and shiatsu are both featured, and Indian head massage. Skincare includes Dr Hauschka facials.
In addition to a highly experienced specialist staff, COMO Shambhala’s Retreat Weeks with the world’s best yoga teachers were pioneered at this resort. Today, the centre has fruitful relationships with major yoga centres, including Jivamukti in New York and the White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara.
