Paraty is a small colonial port on a stunning stretch of jungle-clad coastline 150 miles south of Rio. The beauty of this town is that it has something for everyone: immaculately renovated 18th century colonial architecture, fabulous shopping for ceramics and other local handicrafts and a fantastic coastline and islands for beach life.

Paraty’s centre has been rightly designated a UNESCO national heritage site due to its charming churches and houses built in the 18 Century, during which time Paraty enjoyed prosperity due to being the principal port for exporting gold and other minerals in the country. Cars are not allowed down its cobbled streets, so it is a perfect escape from the frenetic pace of Rio or Sao Paulo and where the well heeled head to for weekend fun.

Your beautiful, private villa is located off a cobbled side-street of Paraty’s historical centre. Carefully and faithfully restored and furnished with some lovely antiques, it retains its 17th century charm whilst also being equipped with all the modern conveniences to make your stay truly comfortable and relaxing.

The villa has four double suites, each with state of the art bathrooms and air-conditioning. There is wireless internet throughout the villa and satellite television in the master suite. There’s a spacious kitchen, sitting and dining room, as well as a charming walled garden, complete with private pool and outside dining area. A staff of three (including an outstanding chef) will be on hand, ready to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Days are spent exploring the nearby beaches by road and boat and visiting the many mostly uninhabited islands. We will arrange private speed boat trips, or a day trip on a catamaran, to explore the nearby beaches, as well as book you into the best table at the town’s many top restaurants.
