Just a half hour drive or train ride from Paris, Le Grenier is a delightful 19thC manor house in a storybook “French country” setting. The original domain here, Gilo of Arbonne, dates back to the 13th century and through the 1500s it belonged to the Baron of Milly or miles (Latin for ‘knight’), who was awarded the land for being the king’s favorite knight.
Beyond its 16-foot wrought iron gates, centuries-old trees and a profusion of colorful flowers fill an enchanting large courtyard lit with large period lanterns. Entirely renovated in April 2005, its décor exudes the authentic grace and character of an 1800’s French manor house, but with all the latest amenities: central heating and comfy American mattresses, along with lovely period antiques and accessories. The property also features a stable, wine cellar and a magnificent 45-foot grenier, with antique beamed ceiling and spectacular original stone walls, which serves as a summer living room.
