Situated in an area of Andalucia settled by cavemen, expanded by the Romans, enhanced by the Moors and nearly obliterated by napoleon Alhaurin offers a wealth of history in one of the most beautiful yet still agricultural areas of this marvellous region.
El Rifugio (the refuge) is an attractive single storey villa built in the Moorish style, set around a pretty central courtyard complete with fountain, beside which there is a covered pergola for al fresco dining. At the rear of the house further terracing leads to the lovely gardens, at the end of which the superb circular pool with plenty of shaded area and sun loungers is located.
Due to it being all on the same level, this villa is ideally suited for those who may have trouble with stairs. All of the rooms in the house have access to the gardens and /or the courtyard which, with ceiling fans in each room helps to keep the whole property cool throughout the summer. However, the sloping, unfenced lawns make this property unsuitable for young children, even though we have had good reports of children enjoying rolling down the slope.
