The Garfagnana is an area just north of Lucca characterised by the soaring wooded slopes of the Apennine mountains. Secretive verdant valleys and red roofed tiny villages with little wisps of woodsmoke hanging on the air: it is picturesque beyong belief. Many travellers come here and settle into the relaxed lifestyle, they fall in love with the value for money restaurants, the fresh clean air and the laid back way of life almost unchanged by rushed modern ways.
Situated in just one of those cotto roofed heavens is this wonderful grey stone farmers cottage. Strictly speaking it ought to be stood in a field miles from anywhere to qualify as such. But its location is exactly what makes this property so unique; situated as it is, on the edge of town. Recently restored to a high standard, it is tastefully furnished in a welcoming Tuscan style with exposed beams, terracotta tiles and cool whitewashed walls. The comfortable and stylish sitting room has French doors which open out on to a well maintained private garden which enjoys wonderful views of the Apennine mountains
