If you took the driving tour, did a few of the things I suggested, and arrived late not to worry, all your shopping needs can be done on your behalf ahead of your arrival. Even your first wonderful local-flavored dinner compliments of our regional cook Roberto and his wife Saida are there, simply waiting for you and can arrange an A La Carte course at a small extra cost. We recommend you rely on their cooking and the house staff to ensure that you enjoy 100% of your time relaxing by the miradores (look-out). One of the two miradores is located on the third floor, with a full open-air lounge, kitchen, and BBQ. It is the perfect hideaway for anyone who wants to relax and look at the sea and the mountains. Or you may choose to hike down to the beach below (pathway will be widened soon). ACTIVITIES Private Pool & Terraces The beach there at low tide is magnificent, no one but you or a couple of guests from the new hotel above. The shells, the fish, the quiet and warm Pacific and the healing power of its sand surround you. It is so intense and quiet, birds, monkeys, far in the distance, real far but then again, you may be graced by a visit. Do not feed them. Just observe. Like I did. The "Kiss" Spa is there, waiting as you come in and shower or go for a massage. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS Let Casa Ramon plan your daily activities such as a 'zip-line tour' through the canopy, horseback rides to either the beach or waterfalls, or river rafting throughout the week. There are many other excursions available for you to enjoy. Casa Ramon's beauty is punctuated by rare exotic living orchids that are everywhere throughout the villa. GETTING THERE AIRPORT: San Jose International Airport (SJO), then to Palmar Sur Regional Airport (PMZ) Book Flights Casa Ramon is located 9 kilometers south of Dominical in the South Pacific region of Costa Rica. You can get to Casa Ramon vacation rental home by flying internationally to San Jose airport (SJO) in Costa Rica. From San Jose you can either rent a car and drive 3 hours through the scenic sierra pass to San Isidro and then to Dominical beach where the Costanera Highway takes you to the Portocito entrance 9 km south. You enter through the Portocito gateway and take the small road past the Cuna de Angel Hotel and follow along the road until you reach the gateway of Casa Ramon...they will be expecting you! (You can also have Casa Ramon arrange transportation for you from San Jose at additional cost.) Another alternative is to take local airlines from San Jose to Palmar Norte (PMZ), which is about an hour south of Casa Ramon and easily reached by way of the Costanera Highway. If you choose to drive, this is what your experience will be: As you make your way through the San Isidro Pass, climbing more than 3,300 meters above sea level, you reach the clouds and experience Nirvana. All around you are the majestic mountains. Stopping along the way you will find little shops, rest places, incredible views, and can experience Costa Rican style restaurants. There are also local shops that have delicious fruits unique to Costa Rica that cannot be found anywhere else since they only grow in these fertile grounds. You may purchase homemade candies, souvenirs, and arts and crafts. You can also find healing bee creams, facial products, local homeopathic remedies, hand-carved wooden sculptures, and clothing.
