Situated in the heart of Mykonos town, villa Bollywood is a unique showcase of a traditional dwelling transformed into a modern boutique home without losing an inch of its distinctive character. Set amidst a lush garden, when seen from outside the cubic structure looks like a typical modern Cycladic home.
The interior of the house, though, is nothing like other modern houses. Although fully renovated, this lovely holiday villa has maintained its Cycladic character intact. White is nowhere to be seen in this artifact of a house. The walls have been painted in pastel colors and the interiors are characterized by an almost complete absence of straight lines. The abundance of curves creates a softer, more relaxing atmosphere and the sense that the house has been carved in a cave.
The spaces are compact with old style small windows that allow little sunlight to penetrate so that the house remains cool during summer. The color palette is mostly in the soothing tones of beige, to highlight colorful objects like the retro style red fridge that draws the eye in the kitchen. The living room is small and simple, its furnishings in neutral tones with a couple of red splashes.
The attic, with its carved walls and double mattress, plays the role of a bedroom, complimenting the scenery of unspoiled Cycladic design. Traditional and contemporary elements blend in a unique way to create an atmosphere of sophisticated simplicity in this cave-like environment.
