PAMPER YOURSELF in luxury in this newly constructed luxury log cabin located inside YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK. This platinum level rental property is managed by The Redwoods In Yosemite, a property management company with an inventory of 130 vacation homes in Wawona, located six miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park.
The property owner has invested hundreds of hours to make sure the home is long on luxury, while at the same time authentic to the log-cabin tradition. The cabin is made out of handcrafted logs from a Yakima Indian reservation in Washington. The logs were hand-hewn to remove bark and precisely placed on top of each other to build the walls of the cabin in preparation for building what is known as a full-scribe, handcrafted log home.
The focus point of the living room is a massive stone fireplace. The 2,862 pound fireplace hearth is 12 feet long and 6 feet thick. Some of the fireplace rocks are the same rocks that the Chinese used for ballast in their ships when transporting cargo into San Francisco in the late 1800s. After the cargo was unloaded, the ballast rocks were removed and used to make the stone streets of downtown San Francisco. If one looks closely, they can see the tracks from the steel carriages worn into the rectangular Sierra white granite stones.
The wood selected for the steps that lead into the cabin came from Studio 89 at the old Warner Bros. movie lot – the 1930s-era studio where stars from Humphrey Bogart to Robert Redford and Paul Newman often filmed. Guests will appreciate the built in barbeque structure where they will find an engraved view of Bridalveil Falls that was created from an historic etching. Along with the image is a quote from naturalist John Muir engraved in the 2 foot by 30 include slab of granite.
