Built in 1839, the Greek Revival mansion on scenic Willow Street was once the home to writer Truman Capote, who penned "Breakfast at Tiffany's in the parlor and on the home's Southern-style back porch, overlooking a well-kept rose garden.
Amenities include a gym, sauna, steambath, laundry room, and two kitchens.
The home is located one block off the famed Brooklyn Promenade, which offers sweeping views of Manhatten and the Brooklyn Bridge from across the East River (as featured in many films, including Moonstruck). The sights and restaurants of Manhatten are only one subway stop away.
There are noteworthy restaurants in the immediate vicinity as well: try Grimaldi's for the best pizza in New York, served on red-checkered tableclothes under signed photos of Frank Sinatra, or stroll Henry Street to find a charming bistro for your evening meal. Taking a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge into downtown Manhattan (Tribeca, Chinatown, SoHo) is a favoriate activity when the weather is pleasant. The house is a primary residence and so generally available only during school holidays, including many weeks during the summer as well as Spring Break (late March) and Winter Break (late December). No smoking, no pets, please.
