Zermatt is a traditional farming village nestled at the foot of the famous Matterhorn Mountain.
This picturesque chocolate box village was made famous by Edward Whymper the English Moutaineer who was one of the first climbers to summit the Matterhorn an epic that ended in tragedy. Since his conquest in July 1865 Zermatt has become a world famous ski and mountaineering resort. The car-free village combines traditional Alpine stadels with contemporary chalets and hotels. Horse drawn sleighs give Zermatt a decadent feel of a bygone age.
Zermatt has some of the best skiing in the world in one of the largest ski areas you can find, whether cruising the reds, taking the 14.5km Ventina run from the Klein Matterhorn to Breuil-Cervinia, the challenging moguls of Trifti or the sublime off-piste of Schwarsee trees, there is something for everyone. Zermatt has invested millions of francs into the infrastructure making it one of the best linked resorts in the Alps.
Zermatt also has the best slope-side restaurants in the world, whether it be a quick rosti or a more sedate gourmand’s delight in the likes of Franz and Heidi’s, Zum See or Blatten. These family run restaurants offer the best food and wines, fantastic service and unrivalled scenery to be found in the mountains. The trails leading back to the village will have you passing busy apres ski bars with live music, small cosy sun terraces and hidden mountain retreats. Most of these restaurants can be accessed by non-skiers also. We are on hand to advise and book any of these restaurants when required.
For a more tranquil vacation you can pamper yourself in one of Zermatt’s beautiful Spas where they offer treatments from Hay Baths to Shiatsu, enjoy a massage, partake in a wine tasting or take a shopping trip to Milan. There is also the Vernissage cinema and art gallery showing films in English. We can bring many of the fantastic Spa treatments to your chalet on request.
