Description of Private Journey - Live Like a Local in Cape Town
your home
With this experience you’ll feel like you’ve slipped from being a local in your home town to being a local in Cape Town. We’ll put you up in a cosy, chic apartment just off Kloof Street, in the heart of the city. You’ll be collected from the airport, dropped off at the More Quarter Suites and handed your keys. Welcome to your South African home from home.
This is where your ‘daily life’ begins. But don’t worry, we won’t desert you: you’ll have a dedicated contact to call whenever you want recommendations, to make a booking, or simply ask directions.
Got the post-flight munchies? No problem. Head for your fridge, where you’ll find snacks waiting for you. On the coffee table you’ll find your all-important Little Black Tomato Book created by us and our local insiders. This guide to the city is your up-to-date bible for your stay, and will include a list of recommended restaurants, bars and key phone numbers (think taxis and local trusted contacts) to help everything run smoothly.
be in-the-know
Like a true Cape Town resident, you’ll have your own car. We’ll hire you some wheels and bring them to your pad. Then, simply drop them off at the airport on your way home. Easy as pie.
And as for exploring the city, we’ll give you enough ideas to keep you running around from dawn till dusk. Top beaches where the locals hang out, stunning gardens, the hippest outdoor summer concerts where you won’t bump into other tourists, scenic coastal journeys on old fashioned trains, and a huge array of insider urban experiences will be at your fingertips. We’ll even get you membership to a local gym, so you can work out in a fun local atmosphere (no dull, empty hotel gym in sight).
Want to learn about the local Jazz or Reggae scene? Meet local artists or take a privately guided tour of the city’s best gardens? This can all be arranged, and our local guides will show you the inside of Cape Town no visitor would ever get to see otherwise. Check your Little Black Tomato Book for details. Perfect.
local dining
Hungry? No worries. Skip the touristy restaurants: we’ll point you towards local eateries where the atmosphere is genuine and the cuisine is guaranteed to be good. In our eyes, if it’s full of locals you can’t go wrong.
After juicy steak or spicy Indian dish, why not check out an art house film at a quirky cinema? The Little Black Tomato Book will point you towards one a short walk from your home, meaning you can make the most of the bar while watching your movie.
To really understand local life you need to know where to shop. We’ll provide you with a list of fabulous local markets and delicious delis so you can create culinary magic in your own kitchen: perfect if you’ve just experienced an indulgent safari packed with three-course meals, or you simply want to keep things, well, simple.
Take a wealth of insider info, a few knowledgeable guides, a pinch of pre-planning et voila, with our help you’ll be calling Cape Town your home in minutes.
