Description of Private escorted Tour - London and Rolling Countryside
our london secret
Get away from tourist-ridden hotels and stay where the locals would choose. There’s nowhere better to rest you head than in the heart of Soho, at the Dean Street Townhouse. Where writers, artists and media types from all over the UK and the globe stay, here you have the bustle of Soho’s nightlife on your doorstep. Chinatown is a stone’s throw away, the chic shops of Oxford and Regent Street are easily reached on foot, and you’re just north of gourmet-lover’s Borough market, music-lover’s Brixton market, and west of the all round alternative area of Shoreditch.
shop in style
For this luxury experience, we have covered all bases to stop you experiencing that ‘where do I go now?’ feeling. Here for a spot of shopping? We will arrange for a personal shopper and stylist to show you round the best boutiques and hidden clothes gems which the city tries to keep under wraps. Scour Notting Hill for unique items, hit the west end for designer gems, or go for vintage in the incredible warehouses around Brick Lane. On a Sunday, one of our best-kept secrets is known as ‘Up Market’: a platform for designer-makers to sell direct to the public, and a great place to pick up a one-off, handmade London memento.
art attack
Speaking of warehouses, if you’re into art, ask us about our East End art tour. Spend an afternoon witnessing the works of up-and-coming masters. The bohemian area of Hoxton and Spitalfields market are home to some of the most important contemporary art around, and you will see these before heading west for the more established, traditional galleries of Kensington and the South West.
london by night
Hungry? Our in-the-know concierge will be able to point you towards everything from the most cutting edge award-winning restaurants in the capital (skyline views overlooking the river, anyone?) to the simplest, tastiest noodles or snacks you could ask for. Our markets tour will take you inside the gastro-chaos of Brixton, Borough and Spitalfields markets, as well as showing your some non-foody ones such as Colombia Road Flower Market, and more.
As for entertainment, here at Black Tomato we love a good concert, theatre production, or underground gig. To find out what’s on while you’re here, just ask when you’re making your booking. Need tickets? No problem, we have them sorted.
And once you’ve had you fill of city life, we’ll whisk you off to the West country, to the rolling fields of Somerset.
quintessential countryside
The exclusive Babington House awaits you: a traditional pretty stone building set in pristine green countryside (18 acres of it, in fact) which has been modernised to create a fabulous hotel, members club and spa.
Keep yourself busy for hours in the fresh air. The staff will point out scenic long walks (don’t forget your wellies), where to play tennis and head for picnics, take bikes and enjoy a spot of croquet. As well as this, we can also arrange ballooning, golf, rock climbing, horseriding, shooting and helicopter flights for a little more adventure. Just let us know what you fancy, if spa treatments overlooking the walled Victorian garden don’t tempt you too much. Why not practise your newfound photography skills too?
After all this fresh air you’ll be ready to head back to daily grind with new clothes, new skills and stories of the English countryside to tell.
