Day 3 Arrival in Rangoon

Upon arrival in Yangon you will be met by your guide who will facilitate the collection of luggage and the transfer to your car which will take you to your landmark hotel. Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, was founded by King Alaungpaya on the site of a small town called Dagon when he conquered lower Myanmar in 1755. He changed its name to Yangon, which means "end of Strife" but was anglicized as Rangoon by the British when they annexed Myanmar in 1885. It is still a relatively quiet and charming city. Moreover its colonial and spiritual heritage makes it one of the most fascinating and authentic capitals of South East Asia. In the afternoon you will be taken on a private city tour including the National Museum, the 210 foot reclining Buddha at Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda and, at the end of the day, Myanmar's holiest monument, the Shwedagon Pagoda with its golden stupa covered with 60 tons of pure gold leaf. Enjoy a quiet dinner in your hotel's justly admired restaurant.

Day 4 Heho and Inle Lake

Your guide and driver will be waiting to take you to the airport for the flight to Heho. Upon arrival you are met by your guide and taken on a scenic drive to the village of Nyaung Shwe, the gateway to Inle Lake. Day 5 A Day with the Lake People

After breakfast you will head for one of the towns around the lake to participate in market day when local inhabitants and surrounding hill tribes congregate to buy, sell and socialize. The market location rotates between towns on a five day rotation so your town will depend on the day you are here. After the market visit your boat will take you down a small canal leading to the Paoh village of In Dein. After a walk around the village, passing a local school, you will climb a covered stairway to the scenic Alaung Sitthou area where ancient stupas emerge from the jungle vegetation. This area also offers magnificent vistas of the lake. Return to the hotel and enjoy a relaxing spa treatment to sooth your mind and body. Following your treatment and preceding dinner you will attend a wine tasting in the Resorts wine cellar.
