Day 1 Depart USA

You board your flight for the overnight trip to the charming and sophisticated country of Ireland, whose heritage is shared by so many descendants of her native sons and daughters here in America

Day 2 The Garden of Ireland and the Rock of Cashel

A thousand welcomes to the Emerald Isle. Your guide will be waiting for your arrival and facilitate your speedy transfer to your waiting car. Once you are settled in and your luggage loaded it's off to the Irish countryside starting with a scenic drive through the Wicklow Mountains known as the " Garden of Ireland" before arriving in the city of Kilkenny, a vibrant place combining history going back to medieval times and a thriving crafts industry. While in the city you will see the Black Abbey so named because it was founded by Dominican monks who wore black garments. You will then visit Kilkenny Castle, an 800 year old castle situated on a high point of the city. After lunch you will continue on to Cashel, home to the Rock of Cashel, one of Ireland's most spectacular landmarks. The large Cathedral, ancient round tower and the very early Romanesque Cormac's Chapel , perched on a dramatic outcrop of rock, were silent witnesses to many of the stirring events of Irish History; St.Patrick converted the local King Aenghus, here in the 5th century; Brian Boru was crowned King of Ireland on this spot in the early 11th Century.

Day 3 The Rock and The Crystal

After breakfast your guide will take you on a walking tour of the Rock. Your hotel is located at its base and has its own private pathway to the Rock. You will then head towards the west coast of Ireland passing through the dramatic scenery of Tipperary County the largest inland county. Passing through the Golden Vale you will also see dramatic mountains in the distance. You emerge on the coast and follow the sandy beaches to the town of Waterford, a charming city known for its waterside charm but perhaps most famous for the Waterford Crystal Center which you will visit. After your visit you will board a ferry for a short ride to a 300 acre island where your Castle hotel is located.

Day 4 The Trip to the Lakes of Killarney

Your journey to Killarney will take you through County Cork stopping at Kinsale for lunch. This quaint fishing town with its narrow cobbled streets leading down to the harbor is sure to captivate you. You will then head through the mountains to the County of Kerry to Killarney one of Ireland's most scenic areas highlighted by its lakes. Your hotel overlooks the lake and dinner this evening is in its aptly named Lake Room restaurant. Dinner with a view.

Day 5 A Day on the Ring of Kerry

After breakfast your guide will be ready to take you on a scenic tour around the Ring of Kerry which affords a journey through some of Kerry's most outstanding scenery around the Iveragh Peninsula. During your day you will travel through Killorglin, by Caragh Lake and Glenbeigh where you get your first view of the Atlantic at Rossbeigh. You will visit Dingle Bay, Kells and Cahersiveen where Valentia Island is visible offshore. Stopping for a picnic lunch at a scenic spot you continue on to Ballinskelligs and Coomakista Pass before arriving back in Killarney. This evening, be our guest at Gaby's an outstanding seafood restaurant on Killarney's high street and one of our favorites.

Day 6 The Gaelic Tradition of Dingle Peninsula

Because of its location on the south west of County Kerry and the one time prohibitive Conor Pass, the Dingle Peninsula stayed true to its Gaelic roots with Gaelic still being the language spoken by moist inhabitants it is also a center of traditional Irish music. All this culture is surrounded by water and stunning scenery selected by David Lean as the location for his production of Ryan's Daughter. The town of Kirrary was fictional and created for the movie but the views are all real. You will climb over the Conor pass into Dingle and then tour around the peninsula stopping for a pub lunch along the way. You then return to your hotel.

Day 7 An Excursion through the Shannon Region

After breakfast you leave your excellent hotel and set forth to another equally renowned hotel. During this scenic trip through the Shannon region you will pass through and have the chance to stop in Adare, Bunratty and the charming town of Limerick before arriving at your destination Dromoland Castle. After checking in you have a chance to relax and enjoy the hotel's grounds and facilities, both legendary. In the evening you have a chance to savor the food at the Earl of Thornton Restaurant.

Day 8 The Cliffs of Moher and The Burren

After breakfast your guide will be waiting to take you for a drive along the famous Cliffs of Moher where Ireland meets the Atlantic Ocean. Stretching for five miles and rising over 600 feet above the sea, the cliffs are home to one of the major colonies of cliff nesting seabirds and one of Ireland's top visitor attractions. From the cliffs you can see the Aran Islands, Galway Bay as well as the mountains in Connemara and Loop head to the South. You will also have a chance to see The Burren which in Gaelic is Bhoireann or "a stony place" The Burren Limestones were laid down millions of years ago and rain falling on the pavements pours right through and, as it does, the acid rain dissolves the limestone and creates caves and potholes which the brave or foolhardy can explore. After admiring the rugged landscape you return to Dromoland.

Day 9 Galway and the Orient Express

Today you head for Galway a delightful city located on the shores of Galway Bay. You'll have a tour of the town before visiting Saint Nicholas Collegiate Church. During the Middle Ages, Galway was one of the most important Atlantic ports and it was only natural that its main church should be dedicated to St. Nicholas of Myra who, although better known to us today as Santa Claus, was also the patron saint of mariners. The church was founded in 1320, and remains one of the best-preserved and best-maintained of Ireland's medieval town churches. Leaving Galway you travel to your hotel home to The Pullman Restaurant created from two converted 1927 Orient Express coaches that were used on the English portion of the route. One carriage in fact was part of the funeral cortege that took Sir Winston Churchill to his final resting place. The carriages also served as the location interiors for "Murder on the Orient Express". You dine here this evening.

Day 10 A Day in Connemara

Today you will have full day in Connemara, one of the most scenic regions in Ireland. Its craggy mountain peaks, expansive sandy beaches and laced networks of lakes exemplify the peaceful solitude and rugged beauty of The West of Ireland. Connemara is not a town or County and you won't find it by name on a map. The name is given to the western portion of County Galway which lies between Lough Corrib and the Atlantic. Dominated by the Twelve Bens mountain range, dotted with lakes and fringed by the Atlantic coastline, its innumerable creeks, bays and little harbors make it one of Ireland's most memorable touring areas.

Day 11 Fjord and Ford Country

After breakfast your guide will be ready to take you first to Killary Harbour which is Ireland's only Fjord and makes up part of the Connemara National Park. After a walk in the area you return to the car and head towards Cong, the site of your next hotel. The scenery is stunning and also familiar since it was in this location where John Ford filmed his classic movie "The Quiet Man" starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. You will see some of the locations before arriving at your hotel, a former home of the Guinness family. Tonight you have dinner in The Connaught Room.

Day 12 The Joys of Westport

Today you will spend part of the day enjoying the charms of Westport considered to be one of Ireland's prettiest towns. First, however you will visit Ireland's Holy Mountain called Croagh Patrick. While in Westport you will have lunch before returning to Ashford Castle for some free time.

Day 13 The Journey to Dublin

After breakfast you head to Ireland's capital city by way of Sligo where you visit the grave of WB Yeats, one of Ireland's greatest poets in a country known for its poets. Upon arrival in Dublin you check into your hotel and the rest of the afternoon is left open for shopping. This evening visit a pub known for its classic Irish pub food combined with Irish music and dancing.

Day 14 Exploring Dublin

This morning you are met by your guide who both by car and on foot will introduce you to the historic and cultural portions of Dublin. You'll visit St Patrick's Cathedral, Trinity College a renowned center of knowledge and repository of the Book of Kells. After a pub lunch you will embark on a literary tour that will show you areas of the city associated with Ireland's great writers. You'll also spend some time following the trail of Leopold bloom from James Joyce's Classic Ulysses. This evening you will dine at Restaurant Patrick Guildbaud, three star Michelin rated, considered to be Ireland's finest and conveniently located in your hotel.

Day 15 Return to USA

In the morning you will be driven to the airport for your return flight to the US arriving back that same afternoon.
