The Icarus Package has been developed to suit those who like to travel in absolute luxury in a small group environment - no crowds, personal service and many creature comforts. This experience includes some of the best hotels that Greece has to offer as well as taking you to some of the most exciting historical sites in the country, from the site where the Oracle at Delphi once forecast the future to the hills of Olympia where the ancient games took place. You will marvel at the beauty of Santorini, take in the maze like streets of Mykonos where rich and famous come to party. A maximum of twelve people participate in these trips, giving you the fun of travelling with others without feeling like you're in a crowd.
Day 1 (ATHENS AIRPORT ARRIVAL TRANSFER)
On arriving at Athens airport you are greeted by our English speaking driver who will transfer you to your central Athens hotel in an air conditioned luxury Mercedes taxi. You will be staying two nights at this hotel. The rest of the day is yours to do as you wish, as no activities are planned, by we suggest that after you settle in, take a short walk to the Plaka area of Athens at the base of the Acropolis and take in the sights and sounds of this bustling district. Have a traditional frappe or a light meal at any one of the traditional tavernas and become acquainted with the vibe of this vibrant city.
Day 2 (DAY TOUR OF ATHENS)
After breakfast, our English Speaking driver with our English speaking guide will pick you up with our Mercedes mini bus, to start a full day tour of Athens. This is your first chance to meet the rest of the group as well as discover the best of Ancient and Modern Athens. On this tour you will be taken to and shown around the Acropolis, the National Archaeological Museum, the Tower of Winds, the Old Palace, the Greek and Roman Agora, the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier in front of the Parliament and witness the changing of the guards. You will also visit the Temple of Zeus and the Olympic Stadium, the original stadium built in the 1863 for the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. You will also visit the Hill of Lycabetus which has unparalleled views of Athens before returning to the Plaka where you can spend time for shopping and find a late lunch at any one of the local tavernas. This is also a great place to find your dinner in the evening, where restaurants from every culture can be found.
Nafplion day 3 Day 3 (CORINTH & NAFPLION)
After an early breakfast, check out and our driver will pick you up from the hotel lobby to start the first tour, a good look around the Peloponnese. Travelling in a modern, comfortable, air conditioned minibus, we drive to Ancient Corinth, which is about an hour hour drive west of Athens, where we will visit Ancient Corinth, Acrocorinth and the Corinth canal. The later is one of the great engineering feats of Greece allowing ships to pass from the Adriatic to the Aegean. After this we travel to Loutraki, where we will have lunch. After lunch we will visit the Nemea winery and a number of other archaeological sites. We then continue to Nafplion, the first capital of Greece and overnight in five star accommodation. Dinner can be found on the waterside, overlooking the wonderful Bourtzi Castle. Napflion is a tourist hub and there is plenty of choice for dinner. We spend two nights in Napflio and we know you will love the service in the hotel as much as you love the view of the sea from your hotel room.
Day 4 (MYCENAE & EPIDAURUS)
After breakfast, it's back into our modern, air conditioned vehicle and we head to the Theatre of Epidaurus and Mycenae. Both archaeological sites and the adjoining museums provide insights into Greece over three thousand years ago. The amphitheatre has pitch perfect acoustics, better than most modern opera houses - a place that truly needs to be experienced. Ancient Mycenae is more austere - home to Agamemnon, among other classical figures, this well preserved site is a wonderful place to wander around and ponder life at the birth of modern civilisation. In the afternoon we return to Napflio for a late lunch. The evening is free for you to discover this ancient and fascinating town. You can choose to go down to a local beach for the afternoon, or laze by the hotel pool. Although the evening is free this is a chance to have a meal with your travelling companions, comparing notes about the sites you have seen.
Day 5 (ANCIENT OLYMPIA)
After breakfast and checking out we travel the two hours west to ancient Olympia, home of the Ancient Olympic Games and the site where every four years the Olympic flame is lit for the Modern Games. The archaeological site is extensive. As our guide shows you around this, ponder the athletes that congregated at the site to compete in ancient times. The Museum on the grounds is filled with artefacts and information about the ancient and current traditions of the Games. Lunch follow at a local restaurant and then you will be taken to your luxury hotel in the town. The rest of the day is yours to explore modern Olympia or simply relax in the sumptuous grounds of the hotel.
Day 6 (DRIVE TO ARACHOVA)
Today is a travelling day. After breakfast and checking out of the hotel at Olympia, we drive north through the modern port town of Patra and Nafpakto and onto Rio. We cross to the mainland by the longest and most modern suspension bridge in Europe. From Antirio, on the on the mainland, we travel up into the mountains, the base of Mount Parnassos, home of the Gods. We will lunch at the village of Arachova, a quaint town, traditional in setting and filled with traditional lace and silver shops, some of the best in the country. Following lunch, we check into our opulent accommodation, located just out of Arachova, for the evening. After a day of travelling, use this afternoon to relax and enjoy this most peaceful of settings and dining at the international standard restaurant in the hotel complex.
Day 7 (DELPHI SIGHTSEEING & BACK TO ATHENS)
Today our tour takes us to one of the most important ancient sites in Greece. Ancient Delphi was seen in ancient Greece and home to the Gods and the place where they spoke to man. This site is incredibly well preserved and wandering these fantastic ruins, discovering the amazing history if this site. It reverberates majesty and the sacred nature of the site will not be lost as you take in the amazing views as well as the fascinating ruins. The museum on the site is also worthy of a decent visit as it explains the mythology and history of this beautiful sacred site. After regaling in Ancient Delphi we travel back to Athens, through Thermopylae for a quick visit and lunch and then back to check into the hotel for the evening. Use the evening to once again explore the fun and charm of Athens at night.
Day 8 (FLIGHT TO MYKONOS & OVERNIGHT)
After breakfast and check out you will be picked up by our transfer driver and taken to the airport to catch the short flight to Mykonos. Upon arrival in Mykonos you will be greeted by our representative and tranferred to your luxury, five star accommodation. Settle in to your hotel and then start to discover the amazing nature of this rocky island. Your hotel is one of th most exlusive on the island - with amazing views onto the Aegean, beautiful swimming pools, first class restaurants and other first class facilities. The next rest of the day and the day after are yours to do as you please. This is the perfect chance to sit by the pool and relax in these amazing surrounds. You should not miss the opportunity to visit the town at night. One of the most cosmopolitan ports in the world, Mykonos Town is a mix of fun, frivolity and festivity. In the summer, the streets are one big party, with first class bars and restaurants, clubs to dance the night away and designer boutiques that are open late into the evening. Spend some time wandering the maze like streets, watching as the rich, famous and infamous pass by.
Day 9 (MYKONOS)
Make the most of your full day on Mykonos. There is always the option to relax by the crystal clear waters of the hotel swimming pool, but there are many fascinating places to visit on Mykonos. The Paradise and Super Paradise beaches are where the beautiful people play, and it's a fantastic place to watch people go by as you swim in the clear, warm water. The shopping in Mykonos Town, as mentioned before, is fantastic as international fashion labels and reknown jewellery shops line the streets. The area around Little Venice is worthy of a visit for the sheer beauty of the area, the balconies of the buildings jutting precariously over the sea. For those who have a lust for more history, ask about taking a day trip to the nearby island of Delos, uninhabited for over a thousand years, it demonstrate the sophisticated society that lived on this once abounding trade centre. Delos is a must see for all history buffs. Once again, in the evening, don't miss the opportunity to see the town come to life.
Day 10 (FERRY PASSAGE TO SANTORINI)
Enjoy your final morning in Mykonos, maybe having a swim by the hotel's amazing pool, or catching up with some last minute shopping after breakfast. Early afternoon our driver will collect you and transfer you to the port for your hydrofoil journey to Santorini. Travelling by hydrofoil is a fun, quick way of arriving at the jewel of the Cyclades. Amaze as you approach Santorini, as the island appears to be floating on a mist, and then be even more awestruck as the hydrofoil docks at the bottom of the massive Caldera. Santorini is bound to astound from the minute you set foot on this legendary place. Our representative will transfer you to your hotel where you will be spending the next two nights. Immerse yourself in the sea views over the amazing cliffs from the balcony of your sumptuous accommodation. You may decide to stay here for the next two days, relaxing, swimming and watching the spectacular sunrises and sunsets. You may also choose to have room service deliver your evening meal to your room and eat dinner on the balcony so you don't have to miss one second of this natural wonder.
Day 11 (SANTORINI)
Your full day at Santorini can be spent in many ways. There are no planned activities and we can see that you will want to stay and watch the view from the side of the pool, drink in hand, taking in the00 island's majesty. If you are feeling a bit more adventurous, your options are endless. You can travel down to the black sand beaches of Perissa and Perivolos, take a trip out to the volcano and hot springs in the centre of the caldera, wander the ancient streets of Thira, shopping in the exclusive boutiques and taking a frappe and some baklava in a cafe overlooking the cliffs. You can also take the short trip to Oia in the north of the island, where the sunsets are said to be the most beautiful in the world. The day is yours to do as much or as little as you wish.
Day 12 (FLIGHT TO ATHENS)
Make the most of your breakfast overlooking the views, as today you say goodbye to this magical island. After breakfast, we check out of our Santorini hotel and our driver transfers you to the airport for the flight back to Athens. On arrival at Athens airport, our transfer driver will take you back in our modern, air conditioned transport back to our Athens hotel so you can spend a final evening in this vibrant city. Use the rest of the day to catch up on any last minute shopping under the protective view of the Acropolis. In the evening, we suggest enjoying a final dinner with your travelling companions, reminiscing about your holiday of a lifetime.
Day 13 (FLIGHT BACK HOME)
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the airport to catch the flight back home, taking with you memories of your incredible time in our fascinating country.
