PROGRAM - ITINERARY

Day 1. Gordes in the heart of Provence

Arrival in Marseille Provence.
Transfer to your hotel in Gordes
Lunch in a gastronomic restaurant

In the afternoon you can visit the village, Saint Firmin palace, caves (audio guide) and museum on your own or with your guide. Gordes is classified as the most beautiful French village for its paved streets.

Time to relax, make shopping, visit art gallery or enjoy hotel activities

Day 2. Discover the Provencal villages and black truffle

You will travel along the lavender road and discover the charming Provencal village Ménerbes to admire typical Provence scenery and villages perched atop rock formations.

There you’ll enjoy a special Workshop to discover the black truffle “Melanosporum”
Similarly, a demonstration of “cavage” with a truffle dog and information about which trees to plant to best encourage truffles, picking, how the truffle is sold – and how to buy it. Tasting of scrambled eggs with truffles, accompanied by wines from the Parc du Luberon.

After this workshop you’ll have a private introductory workshop in the techniques of wine tasting. Accompanied by an estate-style product tasting, these workshops cover :

fundamental flavours: salty, sweet, acid, bitter
the main aroma families: flowers, fruits, spicesdiffering vinification techniques for red, white and rose
A wine expert will welcome you to the cellar to perfect your knowledge of the wines of the Parc du Luberon and help you with your choices.

After the wine tasting you’ll have a gastronomic lunch made with black truffles in the restaurant.

In the afternoon , stop to the old Cistercian “Abbaye de Senanque” for a guided tour of the site before to return to the hotel and relax.

Day 3. Discover Avignon, the city of popes

You'll stop in an old castle and cellar near Avignon for a first guided tour of the cave and tasting. Tasting of 3 wines, red and white Châteauneuf du Pape, red Côtes du-Rhône with estate local products
or wine and chocolate tasting (3 wines and chocolate).

You will head to Avignon, an historic fortified city, for a guided tour of the papal city, Saint Bezenet bridge and the Popes palace. This exceptional monument recognized as UNESCO World heritage was the seat of Christian world in the 14th century. The visit of the palace allows to discover 24 areas: ceremonials rooms, chapels, cloister and the private papal apartment.

·        Day 4. Cellar and vineyards in Châteauneuf du pape

You’ll stop for a visit of Fontaine de Vaucluse, reknown for its water wheels and for its mythic spring after which the village is named.

Then,  you’ll drive to Châteauneuf du pape, famous for its wine.  The origin of its namesake wine, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, or "new castle of the Pope" is also home to the remains of the fortress which gives the village its name. On this afternoon's walking tour you will see the remains of this 14th Century palace, which was built as a summer residence for Popes during their exile in Avignon, as well as the many squares and beautiful fountains that this medieval village has to offer.

Wine tasting in a famous cave and old cellar. There you’ll have a 2 hours wine workshop with a professional sommelier and owner of the caves will make you tasting 5 different types of wines Châteauneuf du Pape.

In the afternoon, visit and wine tasting in a Château from the 12th Century, the place the pontiffs chose for their summer residence when the papel court relocated to Avignon. Guided tour of the old cellars (16th century) and tasting of prestigious wine.

Day 5. Highlights of Provence

The day starts early with a visit of Roussillon in hor ballon, from there you will have a stunning view on what we call the “Provençal Colorado” and you can admire village perched atop a rock formation,.

You’ll then enjoy a panoramic view on the ‘ocres” from the gastronomic restaurant where you’ll have lunch.

Later you’ll have a course of initiation to wine tasting in a prestigious cave.

Day 6. Saint Rémy de Provence

Start your day by a guided tour of famous “Glanum” archaeological site in Saint Rémy de Provence.

Guided tour and wine tasting in a renown domain located in a remarkable vineyard. The tour is divided into three parts: a short film introducing the domain, a visit of the domain and the winery located in an old cathedral and a tasting of 3 wines accompanied with salted focaccia.
