Day 1 Depart USA
You board your aircraft for the overnight flight to Europe where you connect with your flight to Nairobi.
Day 2 Arrival in Nairobi
You arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon and after completing arrival formalities you are met by our representative who will escort you to your hotel, centrally-located and a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.. Although in the city it offers a tranquil setting for you to explore as you walk off the effects of your flight. You may opt for a light supper and then head to bed to prepare for the exploration ahead
Day 3 Amboseli National Park
After a good night's rest and a hearty breakfast you are ready to explore. You meet your guide in the lobby and head out of Nairobi in a South East direction. As you drive your guide will point out areas of interest. Soon the imposing sight of snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro appears indicating that you are in close proxinmity to Amboseli National Park. Game is plentiful here and the park is noted for its large elephant herds. Upon arrival at your hotel you have lunch and then take some time to relax before taking an evening game drive. As with all evenings on your exploration, feel free to have dinner on your schedule.
Day 4 Game Viewing in Amboseli
Amboseli offers a diversity of landscapes ranging from woodland to plains, swamps to scrub brush and this creates numerous micro environments for a variety of game. During your morning and evening game drives you will see elephant for sure but also all manner of plains game such as wildebeest and zebra. In the evening you are more likely to see the predators searching for their evening meal. Lion, cheetah, hyena and the occasional leopard although they tend to be more elusive
Day 5 Driving to Arusha and Lake Manyara
fter your morning game drive you meet up with your guide and board your LandCruiser and head west into Tanzania. Your first stop is the charming town of Arusha known for its superb coffee and as a gateway for those seeking to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. You will have lunch in town before contnuing your journey to Lake Manyara which your hotel overlooks. This evening you have a variety of options including a nature walk before enjoying dinner
Day 6 Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater
Your morning excursion will be different as you travel through a rain forest in search of game.This provides a contrast to the plains in the previous and future parks. After lunch you head on to the Sereneti plain to Ngorongoro Crater where you drive through dense foliage to reach the top of the rim of what is, in actuality, an extinct volcano but one of majestic height and perfect shape. Your hotel sits perched on the rim overlooking the vast caldera teeming with game. Often called one of the most beautiful hotels in the world, it is the perfect spot for a cocktail as the sun sets and makes an excellent precursor to dinner.
Day 7 A Day in the Crater
This morning you head out with your guide for a full day game drive within the crater. A sanctuary for over 25,000 animals, the crater is also frequented by the Masai. Today you will search for lion, elephants, leopard, cheetah and plains game before returning to the lodge.
Day 8 Olduval Gorge and the Serengeti Plain
You begin your day with a visit to Olduvai Gorge where Dr. Leakey made his amazing and sometimes controversial discovery. One of the staff will give you a lecture on fossils of both our human ancestors and those of the animals alive in those times. You then continue deeper into the Serengeti, sight of the Great Migration. You arrive at your lodge where and evening game drive precedes dinner
Day 9 The Lure of the Serengeti
During your morning and evening game drives you will come to appreciate the appeal that the Serengeti has for the lover of Africa. Whether it be here in Tanzania or flowing into the Massai Mara in next door Kenya it represents one of the greatest concentration of game in the world. Throughout the year depending on the season and the weather a flow of game animals including wildebeest and zebras follows the trail of the sweeter grass in a ritual known ad the Great Migration. At times over 1.5 million animals are on the move and with this abundance comes the predators; lion, cheetah, leopard and hyena. Absorb it all.
Day 10 Flying over the Great Rift Valley to the Maasai Mara
After breakfast you board your light aircraft for the flight to the Maasai Mara across the border in Kenya. More than transportation, this is the chance to see the wide spread of the great rift valley beneath you. You are high enough to see the panorama but low enough to enjoy the game below you. Upon arrival you are transferred to your lodge where you have lunch and a chance to relax before an evening game drive.
Day 11 Land of the Maasai
The Maasai Mara Game reserve is only part of the territory making up the domain of the Maasai. Although strong and fierce in appearance these people are in harmony with nature preferring to tend to their cattle and leave the wild game undisturbed. This is Africa as you have imagined it, in fact, a good portion of " Out of Africa" was filmed here. During your morning and evening game drive you will see your fill of game especially the abundant lions but also elephant and giraffes. In between game drives you can visit a local school and get to know the Maasai better.
Day 12 Return to Nairobi and USA
Today you return to Nairobl where a dayroom has been reserved to allow you to relax until you are taken to the airport for your late evening departure.
Day 13 Arrive in The USA
After connecting in Europe you arrive back in the USA in the afternoon.
