  • The convenience of having an aircraft waiting to take you to the next camp plus the chance for aerial game viewing en route
  • Dinner under the stars at Chief’s Camp in Moremi reserve

Day 1 Depart USA

Your adventure begins as you depart the USA bound for South Africa and arrive in Johannesburg the following evening.

Day 2 Arrival in Johannesburg

Upon your afternoon arrival in Johannesburg you will be met by our representative and personally escorted to your hotel, Fairlawns, which is situated in close proximity to the airport. This spectacular boutique hotel will offer a classic and elegant welcome to South Africa. After check in, enjoy dinner followed by a good night's sleep.

Day 3 Flight to Maun and Stanley’s Camp

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for the scheduled flight to Maun in Botswana, "Gateway to the Okavango Delta". You will be met by your pilot and escorted to your aircraft for the ten minute flight to your camp. Stanley's is a small luxury camp consisting of eight classic styled safari tents raised on wooden decking. The elegantly appointed tents exude classic Africa; hand crafted beds dressed with the finest linen, antique furniture individually selected and oriental carpets all add up to an Africa of yesteryear but with electricity, private bathrooms and a viewing deck. You have a chance to relax by the infinity pool this afternoon. After a decadent afternoon tea, you head out to the bush for some evening game viewing followed by dinner

Day 4 Elephant Interaction at Stanley’s Camp

This morning, instead of the morning game drive you have a unique opportunity to spend time getting to know Morula, Jabu and Thembi, a trio of semi-habituated elephants. You will walk with them as they forage, observe them and interact with them including a lunch in the bush with just you, your guides and the elephants. After this experience you have the afternoon to relax before an evening game drive. Game viewing is extremely good with excellent numbers of predators and plains-game in these 260,000 acres of untamed African bush. The area houses one of the largest buffalo populations in the Okavango Delta. In the dry season, the population can concentrate into a herd in excess of two thousand.

Day 5 Fly to Chief’s Camp

You get an early morning wake up with coffee or tea and biscuits served in your accommodations. You will then take a mokoro excursion, a flat bottomed dug out canoe ideal for moving along the shallow delta floodplains. This allows you to see the animals both alongside and in the water particularly elephants and hippos. You return to the camp for breakfast then on to the airstrip for a twenty minute flight to Chief's camp situated on Chief's Island in the exclusive Mombo Concession of the Moremi Game Reserve. In this "predator capital of Africa", wild dog, lion, cheetah and leopard abound.

Day 6 Game viewing in the Moremi Reserve

Your camp is made up of twelve secluded, permanent, luxury bush pavilions, designed for ultimate privacy and comfort. Each pavilion features a thatched roof, specious seating area, a four-poster bed, and private bathroom with both indoor and outdoor private showers as well as a viewing deck with a hammock and deck chairs. This is your base as you enjoy both a morning and an evening game drive. If you want, you can opt for a walking game drive along with an armed guide. After your evening game drive, you will enjoy a sumptuous dinner under the stars before retiring for the night.

Day 7 Moremi, Kasane and Chobe National Park

Depending on the water level, you will take a mokoro excursion in the morning prior to breakfast. You will then go to the airstrip to fly to Kasane where a representative of Chobe Chilwero will be there to meet you and escort you to the camp. In the local language of Setswana, Chilwero means "place of high view". An apt name for a lodge whose accommodations look out over lush flood plains towards Namibia on the horizon. Chobe covers a wide variety of countryside: riverine forest, flood plain, periodic marsh, mopane and miombo woodland and a few rocky outcrops. This diversity of habitats permit a wide variety of wildlife, which range from water animals such as hippos, crocodiles, otter and fish, to forest and dry-land species such as elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and eland. In all areas predators abound including lion, leopard, cheetah, and both species of hyena. You will experience many of these habitats during your stay at the camp.

Day 8 The Chobe Experience

For the true lover of unspoiled Africa, today will capture the magnificence and very real essence of Botswana's natural landscapes and wildlife heritage. Safari activities at Chobe are diverse and will be tailored to your individual requirements. Game viewing of course, but fishing in the Chobe river (catch and release) is another interesting alternative. To top it off, there is a sunset cruise which provides spectacular wildlife viewing and vistas of an African sunset. You then return to the lodge for cocktails and dinner.

Day 9 From Chobe to Victoria Falls

Early morning freshly brewed coffee or tea enjoyed in your room will be followed by a morning game activity. You can choose either a mokoro excursion (subject to water levels) or a vehicle game excursion. In either case, you return to camp for a light breakfast before being picked up by your driver for a ride to your hotel crossing the Zambian border along the way before arriving at your new lodge. After a chance to relax you go out on an evening game drive in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. The park gets its name from the local language which describes Victoria Falls as "Smoke that Thunders" because of the noise and the spray created by the falls. The park has elephant, impala, giraffe, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, zebra in large numbers and an exciting array of birds, including some Southern African specials like Peters Finfoot. It even has white rhino – the only place in Zambia where they can be seen. After the drive and sundowners you return to the lodge for a delicious dinner with wine.

Day 10 Victoria Falls and a Cruise on the Zambezi River

In the morning you will meet your guide for the short drive to the world famous Victoria Falls, where your guide will provide an informative walking tour of the Falls. First described to Europe by explorer David Livingstone, the falls make a constant roar and are accompanied by a cloud of brilliant spray where the mile wide Upper Zambezi falls 300 feet into the Lower Zambezi. Rainbows constantly form and collapse in the tropical sunlight over the waterfall. The river is bordered by ebony groves and mopane forest. After your exploration of the falls you return to the lodge for lunch and a chance to relax. In the late afternoon you board a boat for a sunset cruise on the Zambezi. A cruise is a great way to spend a few hours before drifting back to the lodge, a warm shower and delicious dinner. The boats are specially designed and the guide will take you through a series of grade 2 rapids, guaranteed to get exciting, and a little wet before eventually finding a spot to beach for a break or a sunset cocktail! The combination of Zambezi spray on your face and delicious white wine on the tongue makes for a memorable afternoon sunset cruise. Sipping on a cocktail while watching the sunset over the majestic Zambezi River is truly a once in a lifetime experience!

Day 11 Johannesburg and the Return to the USA

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for the flight to Johannesburg where you connect with your flight to the US.

Day 12 Arrival in USA

Your return flight to the US arrives at breakfast time.
