Discover the ultimate Mount Kenya Climbing Tour:

Mt. Kenya is a spectacular climb. As the second highest mountain in Africa at 5199m, it forms a formidable challenge. Animal Passion Tours & Safaris will take you to the glaciated peaks of Mt. Kenya passing through some diverse mountain habitats and breathtaking scenery.

This diverse range of vegetation types creates a similarly diverse range of wildlife habitats. The glistening peaks, stunning scenery, breathtaking vistas and cheerful superhuman porters, the sweat and tears that go into a successful trek to the summit is part of the extraordinary and outstanding sense of achievement one experiences while standing on the summit and watching the sun rise over Africa.

Our formula for success is the use of professional guides, well paid porters and crew, going slower, giving enough rest between stages and acclimatization time which also plays a crucial role in mountain climbing overall success. What you eat and where you sleep is also very important. This is well taken care of by Animal Passion Tours & Safaris.

We provide you with some thrilling opportunities to experience the best of Mountain adventure within a challenging but safe environment. We are professionals in assessing risk and implementing systems to reduce any recognized danger to a minimum.

You can discover a great deal about yourself through this adventure, but only if the experience is of extremely high quality and professionally organized. As such we do what we know we are good at, the results superb. You don't need to be superhuman. Average fitness and determination is all it takes.

SAFETY AND TRAVEL TIPS
Anybody planning a trek up Mount Kenya should be prepared for a physically and mentally challenging, as well as exciting, experience.
This trek can be done by people of ages between 9yrs-70yrs.
The most important thing is that one should be of average fitness and willing to undertake the expedition.

Your private tour guides: Our first priority is your safety. Our guides and porters maintain a close eye on our clients in case anyone develops some of the health problems connected with high altitude climbs and treks. While most of our clients have a trouble-free climb, an awareness of the potential hazards is useful. We shall also be briefing you every day before and after the trek.

ALTITUDE CHALLEGE

Although not as high as Mount Kilimanjaro, the pace of the ascent up Mount Kenya is faster, leading to rapidly decreasing levels of oxygen in the air.

DEHYDRATION
Dehydration is another common problem. The temperature during the day on Mount Kenya can be very warm so walkers will sweat considerably. Cold weather at night increases urinary output, further increasing fluid loss. The symptoms of dehydration are thirst (which signals that the body is already short of 2 litres of water), headaches, muscle cramps and nausea. Climbers and walkers should drink a minimum of 2.5 to 3 liters of fluid per day. Mountain water is safe to drink At lower camps your guides will collect and boil water for you, but you can still purify the water using purification tablets if you so desire.

HYPOTHERMIA
Hypothermia is the lowering of the body's core temperature. Kit and clothing appropriate to temperatures that may fall to well below freezing is a must. Keep warm at all times.

SUNBURN
About 40% of the Earth's protective atmosphere is below an altitude of 4,000 metres, so climbers are exposed to higher levels of ultra-violet rays. High factor sunscreen and sunglasses (to reduce the effects of sun glare)
