Description of Monaco Historic Grand Prix Exclusive Experience

The Monaco Historic Grand Prix is a great event that commemorates the golden age of motor racing on the glamorous streets of Monaco. It is a must for any motorsport enthusiast!

The race takes place on the very same circuit as the first race back in 1929; the streets of Monaco. You will be taken back in time as some of the finest and most priceless cars tackle the twists and turns of one of the most difficult F1 tracks in the world – it’s sure to be an exhilarating and exciting weekend!

We are thrilled to offer you the following “as good as it gets” Monaco Historic Grand Prix experience…

Friday 11 May

Arrive at Nice Airport and Check-in at the Heli-Air Monaco desk in the arrivals hall. You will soon be taking to the skies again but this time by helicopter along the stunning Cote d’Azur coast line. It is just a 7 minute journey until you touch down at Monaco Heliport where your car and driver will be awaiting your arrival to take you to the Hotel Metropole. The Metropole is a Belle Epoque landmark property situated in the heart of Monaco and steps away from Casino Square. This stunning 5* hotel features an outdoor pool, fitness centre and a fabulous spa. Gourmet Mediterranean cuisine is served in the 2 Michelin starred Joel Robuchon Restaurant. Whilst Yoshi Japanese Restaurant also headed by Robuchon and boasting one Michelin star serves Asian-fusion food with a contemporary twist. There is a poolside restaurant for lighter meals and snacks and an elegant bar where guests can enjoy cocktails and pastries.

You may wish to relax by the pool or indulge in a spa treatment before going off to take in the sights and sounds of Monaco. This evening we would recommend an aperitif at the Café de Paris followed by dinner at Louis XV by Alain Ducasse. The legendary Louis XV is the height of sophisticated dining set inside the opulent Hôtel de Paris. Head chef Franck Cerutti uses seasonal ingredients for his themed French menus. The restaurant also enjoys the world's largest wine cellar: 250,000 bottles of wine (many priceless) are stashed in a rock cave. An incredible experience to start an amazing weekend!

Saturday 12 May

Enjoy breakfast this morning in your room or in the hotel restaurant. You may wish to have a swim and relax before heading to La Salle Empire Viewing Terrace (situated at the front of the Hotel de Paris) for an exciting afternoon watching the qualifiers. Here you will see tradition and danger combine as the fastest sports cars from the 1920’s to 1974 (the start of the modern era of Formula 1) compete to qualify for the 8th Historic Grand Prix. You can’t be closer to the action as the cars come whizzing through Casino Square!

For dinner this evening we recommend La Pinede, situated on the dramatic coastline of Cap d’Ail, ten minutes from Monaco. La Pinede is a seafood restaurant which has become legendary for its exceptional food and stunning views of the Mediterranean. I have to confess it’s a favourite of mine!

Sunday 13 May

Today is the big day – the cream of Europe’s vintage and classic racing collections go head to head and nose to tail for the prestigious prizes and bragging rights for the next two years!

There are several options for today’s race viewing. You can watch from La Salle Empire Viewing Terrace, or you may prefer to watch from a hosted balcony on the start/finish line. Alternatively Grand Tourist could arrange grandstand tickets in the best seats – the choice is yours! There will be 8 races throughout the course of the day which will take place chronologically, starting with the Formula One cars of the 1920’s such as Bugattis and Alfa Romeos. This will be followed by the 1930’s era with the Maseratis, then the 1950’s Jaguars, Ferraris and Lotus and finally the 1960’s and 70’s Formula One cars. After the excitement of the racing you may wish to have a relaxing massage at the hotel spa or a dip in the pool.

For dinner this evening we suggest the Joel Robuchon restaurant within the Metropole Hotel – a gastronomic delight. A sophisticated menu is offered with great emphasis placed on top quality produce and authentic Mediterranean flavours whilst diners enjoy panoramic views of Monaco’s Old Town and the Mediterranean Sea – the perfect place to end an amazing and exciting weekend!

Monday 14 May

After a leisurely breakfast this morning your driver will pick you up to take you to the Heliport. Enjoy the stunning views of the Cote d’Azur as you make your way to Nice Airport for your flight home. Should your flight be later in the day, we recommend lunch at La Colombe d’Or. Located high in the hills of St Paul de Vence this long-standing internationally renowned restaurant is a romantic legend. Food is delicious and the art collection is magnificent with pieces by Picasso, Matisse, Bonnard, Chagall and Dufy (artists used to pay their bills with paintings!) There is a beautiful terrace shaded by fig trees and views from the village are breathtaking – you’ll leave with wonderful memories of the Cote d’Azur.
