Barbados Cooking Vacation Itinerary 2010/ 2011:
Day one: Free Airport Pick-Up and Welcome Dinner. Free Airport pick-up from the Grantley Adams International Airport. Arrive at the Hotel PomMarine in Hastings where you will be staying. After you are settled in we’ll meet for tropical cocktails and briefing of the tour. A welcome dinner will follow, with a multicourse meal
Day Two: We will have an early morning walk on the beach broad walk along Accra beach which is located just min from our hotel, where we will stop for coffee and an early morning swim. Our first class begins where we will explore the story of Barbados cooking, Followed by hands on cooking demonstrations of some authentic Bajan style dishes we will lunch on our exotic tropical creations After Lunch relaxation for the afternoon activities. We will visit the Barbados Museum which showcase the island’s rich heritage and culture through exhibitions on natural history, decorative and fine art, military history and African artifacts. We will enjoy dinner at the waterfront cafe.
Day Three: After breakfast you will visit and tour the fishing town of Oistins on the Island’s south coast, where you can find the local fishermen overloading their day’s catch of Snapper, Dolphin. Barracuda, King Fish and the fish the island is famous for the Flying fish. We will return to the Hotel for lunch and afternoon cooking lesson with fresh seasonal ingredients found at the market. After lunch we will visit the local Barbados Mount Gay Rum distillery established since1703 the world’s oldest Rum, where we will learn the history of the Caribbean Rum production, this will be followed by a Rum tasting session. We will stop at the local art and craft shop where we’ll have the opportunity to do some shopping. Dinner back at the Hotel.
Day Four: After breakfast we will head out for a day of adventure and discovery with our island safari tour, where we will show you all the popular island sites, such as the Barbados wild life Reserve where you might be lucky to see a green monkey. Agouti or mongoose. The Animal Flower Cave is a site not to be missed with its huge chambers filled with pools and unusual rock formation. We will stop for lunch After lunch we will learn the art of making tropical mouth watering island desserts and cocktails using our local mangoes, passion fruit, guava, papaya and some of rum brought back from our distillery tour with our local Island pastry chef Kenroy and bartender Freeston . Afternoon Ladies will be pampered at Chakra Spa famous for its body wrap and scrubs, Gentlemen gets to choose the “Men are from mars” spa package or a enjoy a round of golf at the Barbados Golf Club a 18 hole championship golf course.
Day Five: After breakfast you will enjoy a luxury Catamaran cruise through the translucent waters of the platinum coast, enjoy the view of the Caribbean marine life through this wonderful cruise lunch and snorkeling equipment are provided. Dinner on your own or return to the villa for snack buffet dinner.
Day Six: After breakfast, its time for shopping for duty free items which will include a trip to the local Cheapside farmer market,, Cave Sheppard Barbados exclusive department store great place to buy show stopping swim suits, jewelry, souvenirs art ,and other items. We will stop at one of the Island best Restaurants the Brown Sugar Restaurant for lunch Afternoon cooking lessons using fresh seasonal ingredients found at the market combined with local Island liquors found at the distillery. We will enjoy a three course dinner with dishes prepared in the lesson.
Day Seven: Goodbye breakfast and farewells we will transfer you back to the airport, there is also time for last minute shopping, or anything else you can fit with your schedule.
