Crisp ocean breezes glide over the exquisite beaches on this island off the southern coast of Surat Thani province in the Gulf of Thailand. It is only a short flight from Bangkok, but Koh Samui's natural charm is a world away from the fast-paced capital.
The southern shore’s natural environment is abundantly green and largely untouched, as there were no roads on the island until the 1970s. It is a luscious paradise where you can explore and unwind, breathing in nature’s seductive fragrances.
Koh Samui is home to many seemingly secretive sights, hidden away among the trees and mountaintops. There are cascading waterfalls and gorgeous temples and even a large, gold covered Big Buddha, located in the north near Big Buddha beach. Heaven’s Garden is an outdoor art gallery created by a fourth generation Samuian, whose Buddhist sculptures decorate a hilltop surrounded by verdant tropical forest. Indeed, Koh Samui is a little piece of paradise in the emerald waters off the coast of Thailand.
