The New Mexico boutique hotel is built on the renovated site of the original Santa Fe Hospital, which first opened in 1926. The hospital was built by the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad to serve their employees and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Hotel Parq Central was designed by local Studio Southwest Architects Inc., Klinger Constructors, and HVL Interiors with a nod to the past while keeping in mind the needs of today’s discerning guests. Original clay tiles, 1926-era windows, and a Grand Staircase provide the backdrop for modern touches, including free wireless internet, iPod data connectors, and LCD flat-panel TVs.
Luxurious guestrooms and welcoming public spaces are located in four separate buildings, connected by landscaped gardens and pathways. Faith Okuma, of Surroundings Studio, has designed a colorful, shady and water-wise landscape, with delightful interior gardens hidden behind native xeric streetscapes. Guests can enjoy Albuquerque’s 310 days of annual sun while strolling among Catmint, Irises, Mexican Evening Primrose, and Indian Hawthorn, to name a few.
